Woke up to blue skies (its been overcast) and gin clear water. Gonna be a great day for diving. Check it out…
The routine here is two boat dives in the morning and one in the afternoon. So off we go!
Still had the macro lens on the camera, but the reefs are so incredibly lush, I’m jonesing to get the wide angle lens set up. Probably tomorrow.
Critters after the continuation…
Just like most fish, eels come in all shapes and sizes. From a small ribbon eel…
…to a 5 foot long moray eel
Another couple of interesting shrimp:
One of the coolest (and frustrating) things about critter hunting, is just how amazingly effective fish can camouflage themselves. Take this fish for example:
At a glance, when your eyes sweep across the soft coral, its really easy to miss them. Its only when you stop and examine the coral more closely that you notice that something is moving. And the king of camouflage…the pygme seahorse. At a half inch tall, one of the most frustrating creatures to find. Even when you KNOW they are there! See this one…
I spent 3 minutes getting this single photo, even after the guide pointed it out. I just kept losing it in the coral.
Cute, aren’t they?

that seahorse looks like a cartoon..! Unbelievable. Keep on posting the cool pics - any ancient sites near where you're diving..?

Nothing archaeological, though there are probably a few WWII wrecks around.
