I was checking out one of my favorite sites, Wetpixel, when I saw the following post:
DAN America Insurance not Accepted at SSS Chambers
Divester has a similar post:
Chambers Stop Accepting DAN Insurance
with the January 9 press release from SSS stating:
The Recompression chamber network branded SSS (Sub-aquatic Safety Services), which manages chambers in a dozen popular dive destinations worldwide (and in most cases the only chamber in a several hundred mile radius), is having a dispute with Divers Alert Network (DAN) AMERICA insurance and is NO longer accepting DAN insurance as a payment method for hyperbaric chamber and medical services.
This got me worried, since I'm going to Cozumel at the end of the month and according to their website, Cozumel is one of their locations. However, according to this subsequent release from DAN, it looks like the list of affected locations is much shorter and that the dispute is actually with a single owner of only certain chambers in the SSS network. They also include a January 10 release from SSS clarifying which chambers will continue to accept DAN (Americas) insurance. Fortunately for me, Cozumel is on it.
So if I compare the "non-affected" list with the SSS network, it looks like this "boycott" affects the SSS chambers in Nassau, Cabo San Lucas, Meridia, and Cancun.
